President of the District Preceptor Committee | Thomas William Rossi

Centenary Lodge would like to extend its warmest congratulations to our very own Worshipful Brother Bill Rossi on his appointment as the new President of the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago’s Preceptor Committee!

W. Bro. Bill was kind enough to provide his thoughts on the position and what Freemasonry means to him:

  • The word “preceptor” takes its origins from the base word “precept” which stands for ‘rule of conduct’ or ’an instruction’. In the case of Freemasonry, the Preceptor committee, exists to explain and teach Masters and directors of ceremonies (DOCs) of the various lodges on understanding, preparing, and conducting Lodge Ceremonies. Our role is not to interfere with current customs and practices of private lodges but to provide an informal channel to consult and clarify any questions they may have on protocol, etiquette and ceremonial observances. The committee is comprised of a group of 6 experienced Masons dispersed around the Eastern Archipelago District and my role, specifically, as President of the Committee is to organise events (online and in-person) as well as “corral the cats” to ensure we are properly supporting lodges within the district.”

  • “To me, Freemasony is an organisation that encourages honorable and like minded men from various walks of life to improve themselves within the Order.”

Prior to this most recent preferment, Worshipful Brother Rossi’s illustrious Masonic career also included:

Current appointments:

  • District Junior Grand Deacon 2024-25; and

  • Past District Grand Pursuivant 2020 of the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago
